I had initially penciled in this particular trip out for Easter week, however – a week later than originally planned – my London Shoes legged it down to the Sloane Square/Chelsea area of South West London for the purpose of undertaking the:-
……………“Little Egg Hunt”……………
The ‘Little Egg Hunt’ is an exhibition of 12 giant elaborately coloured eggs, situated in specific locations on Pont Street – Sloane Square – Pavilion Road and Duke of York Square.
This exhibition is the work of ‘The Elephant Family’ a global conservation charity – whose purpose is to create safe environments for elephants, who are worryingly becoming more and more endangered every year.
The Elephant Family charity has some big-time supporters such as His Majesty King Charles III and Queen Camilla – plus Princess Eugenie.
These 12 massive artistically decorated egg-shaped sculptures have been created by some big names in the art and design world – and they are there to represent art-philanthropy and of course Easter.
They will remain on display on the streets of Chelsea until 15th April 2024, after which they will be auctioned off to raise funds for the charity.
Apparently – the plan for next year (2025) is to have up to 200 of these artistic egg sculptures on display alongside some of London’s most iconic landmarks – so that will be quite ‘egg-citing’ to see.
So – having enjoyed some time ‘eggs-ploring’ the streets of Chelsea – it was time for a little liquid refreshment before heading off back home – and my London Shoes stumbled upon ‘The Duke of Wellington” – a very pleasant little pub located down Eaton Terrace, in the posh back streets of Belgravia.
The ‘Duke of Wellington’ is an 1826 built pub – affectionately known locally as the ‘Duke of Boots’.
Interestingly it originally opened as a ‘reading room’ for local residents to escape to, to read their morning newspapers in peace and quiet – which is ‘eggs-actly’ what my London Shoes experienced whilst knocking back a couple of cheeky bottles of refreshing Peroni.
Hope you enjoyed this little story & its accompanying photos.

Another fascinating find, Geoff. You really are the Trail King! In the last year or so you’ve tracked down Eggs, Snowmen, Globes, Chimps and Corgis, and I’ve probably missed some! These trails really brighten up the city and I, for one, wouldn’t have known about any without your blog. Thank you!
Hi Jeff,
Once again – thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words – they are very much appreciated, and I’m so glad that you are enjoying my blog topics, and finding them interesting and informative – I thoroughly enjoy researching, exploring and then putting them together and publishing them – and while my legs are still working, I intend to continue doing so.
Best wishes

Thank you Mr. Shoes for the latest egg-sighting London Shoes blog, a nicely rounded account , well egg shaped account, of what the eggs are all about, the whys and what’s.
I love that London has such odd things on display at certain times, like the lions and snowmen, that you covered previously.
Yet another enjoyable short and sweet blog from Mr.C.
Have you seen the new Guide Dog one at Canary Wharf?
London Shoes:-
Not visited it yet Sheila – have scheduled it in for next week….weather permitting 🐶😊👍
I do like these type of exhibitions. I remember elephants in Sheffield and some strange animals in Liverpool last summer
Awesome
