*A nice way to spend Christmas & New Year -2023

Posted on December 14, 2023 by Geoff Clements Posted in People, Quirky Topics, Streets .
So – there I was, Friday 1st December – having battled Bronchial Pneumonia for the previous 6 weeks – I decided to head off towards Fleet Street in the City – for the purpose of tracking down 12 large ‘Snowmen’ that have been scattered around that particular part of the ‘Smoke’.……as I thought it would be a nice little festive Shoes blog⛄️🌲
I had located about 6 of the said 12 Snowmen and searching for the 7th, required me to cross the Fleet Street road.
What I didn’t account for was being mown down by an electrified Uber Eats bike that ploughed straight into me at speed – throwing me approx 5ft across the tarmac, and leaving me with a shattered right ankle – muscle and tendon damage to my left leg, with cartilage and ligament damage to my left knee – all of which has created a dodgy looking haematoma around my left calf – leaving me annoyingly and frustratingly immobile at this present moment in time🤷‍♂️☹️

So – regrettably, I’m guessing that its probably gonna be at least 2 months maybe more – before my London Shoes will be able to ‘pound the pavements’ of our wonderful capital City again – but return, I will – and as‘Arnie’would say “I’ll be back” 🧑‍🦽🦵🦵🤞
Just wanna thank all the Shoes followers for your very much valued support and comments throughout 2023 – wishing you all a Happy Christmas and a very healthy and Happy New Year 😊👍👍

Sorry to hear that Geoff. How those bikes are legal to ride without some kind of licence is unbelievable. I suspect you are one of many unfortunately. Anyway, all the best and here’s to a happy and healthy 2024 for us all. Take care mate and up the O’s Jimbo.

Very best wishes for a speedy and successful recovery Geoff (‘they can rebuild him’ 😉) Thank you for your blogs. As a country bumpkin they have helped me understand more about London and I enjoyed sharing them with my Dad and prompting him to talk about the London he knew after the war.

I don’t do things by halves these days Del – I’m also at the back end of 8 weeks with bronchial pneumonia!!!!

So – I’d never broken a bone in my body until the accident and I’d never had a bad cough until the pneumonia

I think I must be getting old mate.

Wishing you and Ann a Happy Christmas and New Year – and let’s hope its a bit more of a healthier one than of late.

      Cheers Del

Oh crikey mate, you’ve just got over an illness, then this happens. At least you can put your ‘shoes’ up for a while and have Mrs.Shoes look after you over Christmas, and providing you with a few cheeky ones 🍺🍺.
Get well soon, and we’ll see you back on them streets in the new year some time ☃️🎅🏼👍

Thanks Tony – I certainly wont be nominating Mrs Shoes for ‘Carer of the Year’ that’s for sure !!!

Hopefully I shall be back on the road early in the New Year – but one things become evident – ‘old bones’ take a lot longer to mend than younger ones !!

      Cheers

Hello again, Geoff. Just catching up on your recent posts. Sorry to hear about your accident. What a nasty thing to happen. How’s your recovery going? You said you were expecting to be out of action for at least two months. It hasn’t even been one month yet, so I suppose we’re still in for a long wait before you get the green light to resume your pavement bashing.

    All the best for 2024!

Many thanks Brian – much appreciated.

Its quite clear to me now that my full recovery is probably gonna take a little bit longer than initially envisaged – old bones clearly take a little longer to heal than younger ones !!!

I’m hoping to be back on the road in some form or another, by the end of this month – but time will tell I guess.

      Kind regards
