*tfl’s “Elizabeth Line”-6th Nov 22-a milestone day in the Line’s history

Posted on November 7, 2022 by Geoff Clements Posted in Transport - Rail .

If you’d have told me years ago, that one day I’d be able to hop on a train at my local station Romford, and then that train would go straight through to Bond Street in the heart of London’s west end – or – that passengers would be able to board a train at Romford, and with just one ‘same platform’ change – go straight through to Heathrow and/or Reading……I would have said “No mate – it will never happen” !!!

Well – yesterday, it DID happen 🚇

The progress of ‘The Elizabeth Line’ – 6th Nov 22

Me – on the ‘Lizzie Line’ on route to the new tunnel at Stratford – opened for the first time on 6th Nov – where the line spurs off to the new Whitechapel station

Nice to hear you have done the new Elizabeth line I have also given it a good test by traveling all the way to Reading on my freedom pass. The new Bond Street station is is a brilliant piece of engineering as with most of the stations. Keep your blogs coming I find them so interesting

Hi Peter – I haven’t done Reading or Heathrow yet – but will no doubt explore further afield as time moves on.

What a magnificent bit of engineering though – regardless of the cost and additional time period taken to deliver the service.
