London Shoes

LONDON SHOES

There’s a place I know
Way down south below
It just so happens it’s the capital of England
To see the whole of it
You’ve got to walk a bit
But that’s the only way
To see it every day

Forget about your car
Won’t have to travel far
You’ve got your feet and legs
And that’s all you require
Put on your London Shoes
Forget about your blues
They’ll look after you
And you’ll never tire.

Chorus:
London Shoes – will always belong to me
Coz London Town – was where I was born
London Shoes – and no matter where I may be
They’ll always bring me safely back home

Do you recall at school
You always played the fool
But history was the subject you could relate to
The Tower of London, the Monument
Those Houses of Parliament
You know them well coz that’s what you were born into

I walk around at nights
Among the neon lights
People say, ‘mate haven’t you a home to go to’?
But they don’t realise
The passion in my eyes
It’s fun to understand what you were born into

Chorus:
London Shoes – will always belong to me
Coz London Town – was where I was born
London Shoes – and no matter where I may be
They’ll always bring me safely back home

I love the East End’s smell
That pub they call the Bell
The way the markets always open on Sunday
I love the West Ends lights
Those rowdy Saturday nights
The way the people talk about football on Monday

So get on out of bed
You London thoroughbreds
And show some interest in a City that needs you
Put on your London shoes
Forget about your blues
And show the City that you still love her too

Chorus:
London shoes, will always belong to me
Coz London town was where I was born
London shoes, and no matter where I may be
They’ll always bring me safely back home
