This week’s ‘culture’ day was more of a quest/challenge to locate some of London’s “Ghost Signs” –
Ghost Signs are the faded remains of hand-painted wall adverts that still adorn the fronts and sides of buildings in London.
Long before Banksy’s artwork graced the walls of Bristol and beyond, another type of street art was popular throughout London (and across the country), and its remnants can still be seen today – and I covered quite a few miles on me ‘plates’ today trawling the streets of north, south and east London, searching for these long lost historical examples of ‘street art’ from a different era.
There are loads of examples still on display and scattered across London – these are just some of the ones that I discovered.
